Life in London!! Busy Busy!!

Hello all!!

So, I have not forgot about this blog....actually started teaching every day!!! I have a full week this week in the nursery at Our Lady's Primary school and I absolutely love the school, the staff, the students, and my class soo much!!! I look forward to work in the morning!!

So, needless to say, my days have turned into waking up between 6 and 630 am....getting ready, and either waiting for that much anticipated call, or just leaving for work in the morning when I know I have it!!

This past weekend, Grant and Jessica, and I went on Grants Crazy Walking Idea Trip.....he had planned out a day's worth of walking and sightseeing....awesome and FREE!!! We began by the Tower Bridge, made our way to the Globe Theatre, London Eye, Big Ben, Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey, and Tralfagar Square.....so perfectly planned and soo much fun!!! Good job Grant!!! We then headed back to their flat to enjoy pasta with garlic bread for dinner! What a perfect Saturday!!! I slept without any problems that night!!

Sunday was a different story....I woke up with barely any voice, and full fledged cold:(:( We went to go grocery shopping, but since nothing opens in London till noon or later on a Sunday (!!!), had to wait, and of course it starts to downpour...anyways, a quick shopping trip for groceriees turned into a full day excursion of exploring Oxford street just because we could! As some of my friends will notice.....I am horrible at relaxing for even a few hours!! Never mind the full day my goodness!!!

Other than that, back to working in the Nursery this week with the school I thoroughly enjoy!!! Woo hoo!! I love my job!!!!

Cheers!

First Week Back after Mid-Term

Hello everyone!!

So, this week has just flown by! Spent quite a few early mornings by the phone waiting for that phone call to come....Tuesday was my first day of work through a late morning booking, which was still great...I was sent to a fairly good school, and worked with some wonderful staff and students in the Nursery there. I had a great time! Things got alittle hectic a few times, but kids will be kids...right? The morning went well...the kids behaved quite nicely for the most part, so I felt pretty spoiled. Again, worked with great support staff all day. I had to laugh though...we did do centres in the afternoon, and we had a few little girls literally up to their elbows in paint...and just a gigglin'....so what can you do except hope they don't try to hug you, and wash them up for round two....by the time I finished with that station, I would have been completely covered in paint as well....APRONS are like GOLD in any kind of primary setting!!! The day ended wonderfully....I played outside alot with the kids, and then came hometime...at 6 pm because it was a nursery. Funny how it only took me about 35 minutes to get to the school...in the evening, I walked past my tube station by about 15 minutes, so that tacked on about another 20 minutes to get back, and needless to say...got home an hour and a half later....I was totally knackered!!!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to work in yet another fantastic school. It was a smaller school, but incredible staff, students, and administration team...I had a fabulous day and would go back in a heart beat. I ended up working in the nursery area here as well and had too much fun!!! Only had one student who acted out regularily, but other than that, amazing day with wonderful people!!!

Today, I am definitely headed out to pick up some cool prizes, games, and activites for back up if ever needed.....stickers in primary settings are like GOLD!! From age 3 all the way to 11 or 12...works everytime!!!!

Adventures During the Final Days of the Mid-Term Break

Hello again everyone!!!

So, I am busily preparing for hopefully a phone call to supply tomorrow morning!!! I am highly anticipating my first day!!!

The last few days have been alot of fun ....well...of course!!!:)

Met up with a few fellow Canadian teachers and explored the wonderful Camden market!!! Oh my goodness....HUGE!!!!! So many different cultures to experience all in one place!!! It was great, with folks selling everything from food of every kind imaginable, to clothing, to back packs, to bean bag chairs......and the list is endless! There was one store called the "Cyber Dog,"that looked more liek a Star Wars centre in the middle of this market---it was actually kind of funny becasuse it seemed an odd location to have a "Cyber Dog"store....that was an adventure all on its own!!! Only in London.....:):)

That day was pretty packed with the Camden market itself, and then home to eat dinner before attending the amazing "Canadian Teachers Shindig"at the Maple Leaf Pub with several fellow Canadian teachers from all over Canada!!! What a wonderful time!!!

Then Saturday came along.....HALLOWEEN IN LONDON BABY!!!! I normally do not really celebrate Halloween, but we are in London!!! So, spent the day with two fellow teachers and close girlfriends, Kristin and Stephanie, and went shopping for cheap cheap costumes:) That went quite well. We then headed back to our apartments where we got ready for what promised to be a fabulous night of all the girls dancing the night away!!!

After meeting up with a few more fellow teachers--who had dressed as Canadian Superheroes, and their costumes were absolutely incredible!!! So creative!!!

Camden...well Camden on Halloween night.....an absolute blast!!! We danced the night away and just had a great time into the wee hours of the morning:):) Good times in London!!!!
